GLASSART IN GLASS :message txt for 30th anniv. publiction 2002
The Japan Artcrafts Association, established in 1972, marks its 30th anniversary this year. Every three years since its founding, the association holds an exhibition called Glass in Japan. The exhibition has achieved recognition over the years as a gateway to success for glass artists and as a means by which to introduce the glass art of Japan both in Japan and overseas. Glass in Japan contributes to the advancement of contemporary glass art by serving as a venue where glass artists from around the world are invited to gather together and interact. The exhibition also works to extend to Japan the Studio glass movement in Europe and the United States, which promotes the development of small, artist-run studios for the production of art glass.
On the occasion of the 9th Glass in Japan exhibition, the Japan Glass Artcrafts Association is delighted to offer this significant book, Art in Glass, in celebration of its 30th anniversary. It is hoped that Art in Glass will not only prove helpful for creators of glass art, but will be instrumental in promoting a deeper interest in contemporary glass art among growing numbers of people.
